Italian retail pioneer Carla Sozzani’s newest NYC outpost is breathing new life into the South Seaport location in New York. Blending art, cutting-edge fashion, design objects, and Italian cuisine under one 28,000 sq foot roof that allows the viewer to pass from space to space exploring is a revelation.
Designed by American artist Kris Ruhs the interiors and branding work seamlessly together supporting the overall scheme. Playful items from pencils and paper watches to a Helmut Newton art exhibition, and curated sneakers from Off White and Puma pull at your wallet.
Print and pattern play together throughout giving a sense of elation, what joy it is to engage in the physical delight of shopping! The real star here is the thoughtful collaborations with Birkenstock, Komomo, and Caran D’ache. By using the Corso Como patterning as the driver for product design each item down to the shoppers has a collectible look and feel. And this viewer’s personal favorites, the Corso Como branded woven labels and hang tags!
